Introduction

Quick and dirty webpage. I was busy trying to pxe boot a Sumicom S635F machine, but the installer couldn't find a suitable NIC driver.

Solution

Luckily there is a rather easy solution which I'll outline here:

• Grab latest Debian Netboot images for your preferred platform
• untar
• use some cpio magic on initrd.gz
• Grab the correct ET131x debian package from debian package search. In my case I got the 2.6.28.2-486 binaries
• extract the .deb and copy the et131x.ko module into the initrd extraction.
• use find and cpio magic to recreate initrd.gz, copy to your tftp location
• ...
• profit!

Result

I've repackaged the netboot.tar.gz and put it up here for download. Also I've put up just the initrd.gz file. These are for i386 platforms only (using the 486 version of the kernel/netboot image).
